Scotiabank has been a longstanding supporter of Eva’s Initiatives. The partnership has been instrumental in advancing our mission by supporting our emergency shelters, transitional housing, Print Shop training program, and independent life skills programs. Additionally, Scotiabank’s sponsorship of key fundraising events, such as Taste Matters and Home for Life, has been crucial in expanding our reach and impact.

Scotiabank’s social impact initiative, ScotiaRISE, helps people reach their full potential by funding programs that support them to be resilient, adapt through change and thrive. Through ScotiaRISE, the Bank has contributed $150,000 over three years to fund employment services at Eva’s Phoenix. This multi-year agreement helps provide stable funding for our strategic focus to centre the needs of Black youth, while supporting all youth, regardless of race or background, who come through our doors.

“It is vitally important that youth experiencing homelessness get the support they need to secure shelter, skill building, and future employment,” says Jason Charlebois, Regional Senior Vice President, Toronto Region at Scotiabank. “Through ScotiaRISE, Scotiabank is pleased to continue to support Eva’s to empower and improve the lives of young people as they work to overcome barriers to their future success.”

Through various campaigns, Scotiabank employees have been remarkable supporters of Eva’s, generating more than $275,000 in total donations. Patricia Gloudon, a retired Scotiabank director with a 40-year career with the financial institution exemplifies this commitment.

To fundraise and garner support from Scotiabank employees for Eva’s, Pat would visit the bank’s trading floors with candy, gum, and other items.  Her support and enthusiasm led to Shorcan Brokers donating Scotiabank broker fees to Eva’s for over 10 years. Reflecting on her dedication, Pat said, “Nobody was doing the work like Eva’s was doing it, and Scotia was a big contributor. The Eva’s team was so committed–they really cared for the young people–and it inspired me to be committed too.”
