At Eva’s, we know that meaningful change starts with bold leadership, and we’re beyond thrilled to celebrate Shequita, our Senior Director of Equity, for receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

This prestigious honour recognizes Shequita’s incredible contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion and her unwavering commitment to addressing gender-based violence. She was nominated by Senator Paulette Senior, a trailblazer dedicated to breaking down systemic barriers and empowering women, girls, and gender-diverse communities.

For Shequita, this recognition is deeply meaningful.

“To be recognized for my work in equity and gender-based violence by Senator Paulette Senior—someone who has been a changemaker and advocate for decades—is truly an honour,” says Shequita. “This work is not easy, but it is necessary, and I am grateful to be in a position where I can help create lasting change for the youth we serve.”

This achievement is not just a moment of personal pride for Shequita, but a milestone for Eva’s as well.

“We are so lucky to have Shequita’s expertise guiding us as we deepen our commitment to centring Black youth in everything we do,” says Louise Smith, Executive Director of Eva’s. “Her leadership, vision, and dedication to equity are helping to shape a more inclusive and just future for the young people we serve. This is such a well-earned honour, and I couldn’t be prouder to see her recognized on such a global scale.”

Shequita’s passion and leadership continue to inspire all of us at Eva’s. Please join us in celebrating this incredible achievement!
