After six years of dedicated leadership, our Executive Director, Louise Smith, will be stepping down on March 14, 2025, to take on the role of CEO at Ronald McDonald House Toronto. While we are sad to see Louise go, we are incredibly grateful for her leadership and the impact she has had on Eva’s.

Under Louise’s guidance, Eva’s has navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and developed a new strategic plan that reaffirms our commitment to youth. She helped shape our vision, mission, and values that honour the legacy of our founder Eva Smith, centre Black youth, and ensure that every young person who walks through our doors knows they belong.

We are also pleased to share that Aisha Francis, our former Board Chair, will step into the role of Interim Executive Director for the next year, beginning March 10. Aisha is a passionate leader and advocate for young people, and we are confident that she will continue to move Eva’s forward during this transition.

A Message from Louise Smith

“Serving as Executive Director of Eva’s has been one of the greatest honours of my career. I am so proud of what we have built together—a resilient organization that continues to provide life-changing support to young people experiencing homelessness. I have been inspired every day by the dedication of our staff, the generosity of our supporters, and, most of all, the courage and strength of the young people we serve.

While this transition is bittersweet, I leave knowing that Eva’s is in strong hands. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Your support ensures that young people have the resources, stability, and opportunities they need to thrive.”
